The LOWARA (formerly LAING) DDC is an electronically commutated spherical motor pump, with running times of well over 50,000 hours at 12 volts nominal voltage.

A conventional shaft with shaft bearings and shaft seals is not available. The only moving part on a spherical motor pump is a spherically shaped rotor / impeller unit that rests on an ultra-hard, wear-resistant ceramic bearing ball. The bearing is therefore self-adjusting. A development of bearing clearance - and thus an increase in noise is inherently not possible. The pump remains silent over the entire running time.

The bearing is lubricated directly by the pumped medium (wet runner pump). There is no need for maintenance. Blocking the pump is normally not possible. A safe start-up is possible even after a long standstill.

The permanent magnet rotor / impeller unit is driven by a magnetic field generated by the surrounding stator. This is completely built around the rotor, so that a complex, separate magnetic shielding is not required in most cases. The complete pump is very compact, and at 38 mm only slightly higher than the stator itself.
